Use this How to Guide to learn how to access your course materials
and select your program level in Canvas Bookshelf.
Step 1:
Navigate to Canvas through CIS. Once you have logged into Canvas select which course you are looking to view your course materials in.
Step 2:
From the course home page, navigate to Bookshelf. From here you will be able to access your course materials and view what program level you would like access to. You will also see a countdown noting how many days you have remaining to make your selection. This countdown is set for the add/drop deadline each semester. After that point, the program level you have decided on will determine the price you pay for your textbooks. This will be posted to your student account.
Step 3:
To view your program options, select Switch Programs.
Step 4:
A pop-up will appear, and you will select which program level you would like access to.
Utah Day 1 Access provides access to all required print and digital course materials for a single charge of $259.
If you would like to view the price of individual textbooks, you will select the Instant Access program level, where you can view individual textbook prices and select which books you would like to continue with for the semester.
If you do not have any required course materials for the semester, you can opt-out of all programs from this menu. You will still have access to the Utah Day 1 program until the add/drop deadline. After that point, access to any materials you have been using will be removed from Bookshelf and you will not be charged.
To proceed with your selected program level, select “Confirm Program Choice”.
Step 5:
If you have selected to switch to Instant Access, the top banner will now say “You’re enrolled in Instant Access”. The countdown will still appear letting you know that you have that amount of time to switch back to Utah Day 1 Access (all access) or select which books you would like to purchase individually.
Step 6:
To opt-out of individual textbooks, select “Want to Opt-Out?”.
You will see a pop-up asking to confirm your choice. Select “Confirm Opt-Out”, you will continue to have access to this book until the add/drop deadline. After that point, you will no longer have access and will not be charged.
Step 7:
Within the two-week trial period (before the add/drop deadline), you can opt back in to Utah Day 1 Access (all access), or individual textbooks within Instant Access.
To opt-back into Utah Day 1 Access, select “Switch Programs” and confirm Utah Day 1.
To opt-back into individual course titles, select “Want to Opt-In?” and confirm your selection.
