University of Utah Payroll Deduction Program

ALL Payroll Deduction Applications must be completed in store only.

All eligible University of Utah faculty and staff can enroll in the University Payroll Deduction Program that provides interest-free financing for qualifying technology purchases. To enroll in the University Payroll Deduction Program or to learn more, please visit the Campus Store and talk to our Customer Service Representatives. This program is currently only available in store. If you work remotely, please reach out to our Customer Service Team to schedule a consultation at 801-581-6326.

Guidelines for the University of Utah Payroll Deduction Program:

  1. Payroll deduction is currently available for computer hardware and software purchases only; it cannot be used for textbooks, general books, educational supplies, merchandise, or other services.
  2. University employees are eligible for payroll deduction after they have been employed for 90 days.
  3. Only University employees may use payroll deduction; family members are not eligible for payroll deduction. The employee must be present to sign the Payroll Deduction Election and Authorization Form. Employee must present a valid University ID at the time of purchase.
  4. The University Payroll Deduction Application must be completed at our main campus location in person only.
  5. An initial set-up fee of $20 will be required at the time of purchase, with no additional fees or interest.
  6. After a product is purchased on this program, the payroll deduction will begin with the next paycheck.
  7. Only one deduction is allowed at one time.
  8. The University Payroll Deduction Credit Limit is $2,500. Any amount exceeding this must be paid at the time of purchase.
  9. Purchase Amount/Pay Periods are as follows: Purchases from $250 - $2,500 will be deducted in thirteen (13) pay periods. You have the option to pay off your balance on the Campus Store website at any time prior to the end of the thirteen (13) pay periods by logging into your account.

Shop any Computer Hardware from $250 up to $2,500 to get the perfect device for your needs. Our UTech Staff are available to answer any questions you have.

FAQ

What if I don't have my U of U ID card with me?

We can hold your order until you can return with your U of U ID card. We cannot process an order without a copy of your U of U ID card.

Can I purchase more than one item at a time?

Yes, but you cannot exceed the established credit limits detailed in the table below.

What if I leave the University and still owe money?

If the amount owed is not satisfied/paid through payroll, you will have 30 days to remit full payment before it is sent to collections. If a payment plan is set up you will be charged a $10.00 per month or 1.5% interest rate each month (whichever is higher). The Campus Store reserves the right to waive this fee.

Can I put a deposit on my purchase, and pay the balance through payroll deductions?

Yes. On the form, we will list the amount paid, and then list, “balance of $___ to be paid through payroll deduction.”

What will I see on my paycheck?

You will see a deduction code and an abbreviated description such as STR067 - Campus Store. The total on your pay stub is cumulative for the year; if you have multiple payroll deductions, the total on your pay stub will reflect total payroll deductions for the year.

Can I extend the number of pay periods that I pay for my purchase?

No. You must stay within the established guidelines of 13 deduction periods, depending on the amount of the purchase.

When will the first payroll deductions happen?

The deduction will start on the paycheck for the pay period the payroll deduction was purchased. (1st through 15th - paycheck dated the 22nd; 16th through the end-of-month–paycheck dated the 7th)

Occasionally, we adjust our order deadline to reflect high capacity times. If so, you’ll see a countdown timer for orders on our website.
